About Saleem

I’ve spent more than 30 years building software and engineering organizations through several generations of technology.

I started out as a software engineer, moved into engineering leadership, and have since led teams through growth, transformation, cloud adoption, Big Data, machine learning and AI. I’ve built organizations from the ground up, led teams of more than 120 people, and worked across complex international environments.

Why Aha Future Tech?

Aha started as a place to explore the rapidly changing world of AI and future technology. I’m now evolving it into something more useful: a place to share what I’m learning about engineering leadership in the age of AI.

I’m particularly interested in what happens when AI becomes part of the way engineering organizations work — not just another tool that engineers use.

How do we use AI to improve the software development lifecycle? How does it change the relationship between Product and Engineering? What happens to engineering teams when AI becomes embedded in everyday workflows? And where does human judgement become more important as AI becomes more capable?

How I work

I prefer practical experimentation to theoretical prediction. I build things, try tools, look at what actually happens, and share the useful parts — including the things that don’t work.

A little context

I hold a BSc Hons in Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence from the University of Edinburgh. My career has included AI and machine-learning platforms, Big Data, cloud engineering, large-scale engineering organizations, Agile transformation and commercial technology delivery.

These days I’m particularly interested in the intersection of decades of engineering experience and a new generation of AI.
